Commitment to Charity

Our Commitment

"When I was a full-time practicing vet, I was always flabbergasted by the level of commitment, sacrifice and pure drive behind individuals (and their amazing staff!) who own and run animal charities. What always seems to be lacking, however, is either cold hard cash or much needed supplies of food, bedding and medicines for the animals in their care.

When MedicAnimal was founded in 2007, we quickly discovered we could help tremendously by donating free pallets of pet food, and raising money. This remains a core objective of ours and we are eternally grateful for all the help these shelters provide for the tens of thousands of animals that are abandoned every year in the UK."

How we’ve raised donations

Every year since MedicAnimal was founded, we send food, bedding and accessories to charities which help animals. The amount we can give increases each year, alongside our determination to change the lives of pets in need.

2016 was an exciting year for us, with highlights including teaming up with the release of A Streetcat Named Bob to generate a £3000 donation to Wood Green – one of the leading animal welfare organisations in the UK. Since October 2016 we’ve also donated £500 to our charity of the month, as voted for by our VIP customers.

Luckily, we also have some extremely determined employees who give up their own time to help the charities we support. In 2015, one of our in-house vets completed the Zambezi Challenge for Cats Protection, which involved navigating a crocodile inhabited river, and working with lions on a conservation project. And recently, our CRM manager ran a frankly ridiculous number of marathons to support the amazing work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People (8 in total, including 156 miles across the Sahara Desert).

Along with donations, we also hope to raise awareness about how these fantastic organisations are helping pets and owners across the country – have a read below.

Testimonials

“We are thankful to MedicAnimal for their support and for making their customers aware of our work and our core objectives of homing, neutering and education. Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs, so we are pleased that MedicAnimal can help us achieve this vision”

Maggie Roberts BVM&S MRCVS, Director of Veterinary Services at Cats Protection

"Even though the average stay for the animals in our care is fairly short, we do get some longer term residents who through no fault of their own struggle to find their forever home. MedicAnimal has done a wonderful job in helping us to promote some of the long term animals desperately looking for new homes and the large donations of pet food and accessories has enabled us not just to feed some of the animals at our centres, but also to provide more luxuries like chews and treats."

Katja Jones, Major Donor Officer at Wood Green, The Animals Charity

"As we are a charity and receive no government funding, we rely on the kindness of businesses and organisations like MedicAnimal to offer us donations for our dogs. We cannot thank them enough for what they have contributed to our cause. Everything from food and treats, to toys, beds and even ramps and prams for injured dogs. Donations of flea and worming medication really make a difference to us too, as it’s these basic treatments that make life all the more comfortable for a stray dog. Thank you MedicAnimal!"

Ira Moss, All Dogs Matter

"Medic Animal, through their “Care with a Conscience” scheme for charities, have been assisting the Trust with free donations of wild bird seed, peanuts, feeders, cages, bedding and cat and dog food – all invaluable in keeping down costs, and helping us treat the 3500 injured, orphaned and sick wild animals that pass through our doors every year. On behalf of the animals, our thanks to Medic Animal, for their very welcome support of our work!"

Dave Risley, Folly Wildlife Rescue

"It would be an understatement to say we have been blown away by the generosity of MedicAnimal to our small charity! Not many people realise that local branches or the RSPCA are run by volunteers and we have to raise our own funds to continue to look after the animals in our care. We can't thank MedicAnimal enough for showing their support by donating pet food and other products to help us to be able to continue this care in our local community."

Heather Cain, Chairman of RSPCA Stourbridge

"MedicAnimal has helped us many times over the past months. Donations of pallets of stock have benefitted every type of animal supported by this charity and have meant huge financial savings for us. These savings have enabled us to ensure that our supporters cash donations could be focused upon rescuing more animals in need, and upon spreading the reach of our education programmes into the areas where they will make the most difference. We are extremely grateful to MedicAnimal and to their customers for making this possible."

"MedicAnimal.com have been extremely supportive to the work that we do, and have provided us with pallets of feed and goods to support the animals. As a small independent Charity this has had a huge impact on us and we are very grateful indeed for all the ongoing help we receive from them."
