Royal Canin Veterinary Diet RF 23 Renal Adult Dry Cat Food
Product details
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 is a complete dietetic feed for adult cats struggling with renal failure, specially formulated to appeal to even the most unenthusiastic eater.
How it works
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 uses varied sources of animal proteins and a wide choice of aromatic profiles designed to be especially appetising to your cat. A number of flavours and textures help make the medicine suitable for cats with a range of conditions. If your cat has problems chewing, for example, they might prefer a recipe with a softer texture. This wide range of nutrients also helps to support a balanced digestive system as the appealing formulae encourage your pet to eat a range of recipes despite their reduced appetite.
Renal failure is often accompanied by phosphorous retention, which can lead to the glandular disease secondary hyperparathyroidism. The low levels of phosphorous in this recipe help to support normal renal function.
You may also find that renal failure limits the ability of your cat's kidney to filter blood. The food is also supplemented with omega-3 long chain fatty acids which can combat this decline and restore some of the kidney's function.
It's also fortified with Royal Canin's patented complex of anti-oxidants, which can aid in neutralising free radicals, helping support the overall health of the immune system and maintain DNA cells.
Key benefits
- increased palatability to keep your cat eating
- maintains your cat’s nutrition through varied protein profile
- reduces phosphorous intake
- helps restore kidney's ability to filter blood.
When to use it
Kidney failure often causes cats to lose their appetite and can be accompanied by severe symptoms including vomiting, lethargy, and diarrhoea. In some cases, your cat could become severely anorexic. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 is a complete diet and can often be used immediately after diagnosis to improve your cat’s appetite and restore their nutrition.
Because veterinary diets are formulated for the nutritional support of pets with specific clinical conditions, we recommend that you only use them under professional advice. For more information on feeding Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 to your cat, please consult your veterinary surgeon.

He loves it but it doesn’t love him…Hugo loves this food which I mix with the wet but unfortunately it upsets his stomach so I’m having to try a different brand now.
-
Ruby TuesdayRuby is very happy with her food. She has had kidney problems for quite some years - she is now 16 - and is as independent as ever.
-
Cats with Kidney FailureHighly recommended for cats with kidney failure - our 2 cats are 7 years old and both have kidney failure however my 1 cat is severe and this food has really been helping alot, along with daily fluids. If you find your cat vomits it up - mix it half / half with their age appropriate food. That way they get the best of both worlds.
-
Renal support for catsMy 14 years old cat really enjoys the Royal Canin veterinary diet feline Renal dried food. Since she has been on this food she has put on weight and is much brighter.
