Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 is a complete dietetic feed for adult cats struggling with renal failure, specially formulated to appeal to even the most unenthusiastic eater.

How it works

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 uses varied sources of animal proteins and a wide choice of aromatic profiles designed to be especially appetising to your cat. A number of flavours and textures help make the medicine suitable for cats with a range of conditions. If your cat has problems chewing, for example, they might prefer a recipe with a softer texture. This wide range of nutrients also helps to support a balanced digestive system as the appealing formulae encourage your pet to eat a range of recipes despite their reduced appetite.

Renal failure is often accompanied by phosphorous retention, which can lead to the glandular disease secondary hyperparathyroidism. The low levels of phosphorous in this recipe help to support normal renal function.

You may also find that renal failure limits the ability of your cat's kidney to filter blood. The food is also supplemented with omega-3 long chain fatty acids which can combat this decline and restore some of the kidney's function.

It's also fortified with Royal Canin's patented complex of anti-oxidants, which can aid in neutralising free radicals, helping support the overall health of the immune system and maintain DNA cells.

Key benefits

  • increased palatability to keep your cat eating
  • maintains your cat’s nutrition through varied protein profile
  • reduces phosphorous intake
  • helps restore kidney's ability to filter blood.

When to use it

Kidney failure often causes cats to lose their appetite and can be accompanied by severe symptoms including vomiting, lethargy, and diarrhoea. In some cases, your cat could become severely anorexic. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 is a complete diet and can often be used immediately after diagnosis to improve your cat’s appetite and restore their nutrition.

Because veterinary diets are formulated for the nutritional support of pets with specific clinical conditions, we recommend that you only use them under professional advice. For more information on feeding Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Renal RF 23 to your cat, please consult your veterinary surgeon.

  • excellent product and service
My cats eat it well, I feed it to them as a precaution, kidneys are the Achiles heal in cats so I thought of better prevent the problems and vet approved of it

  • Renal Dry Food
A year ago my 15 year old cat was diagnosed with CKD. Her diet had been Royal Canine Urinary for all her life. So, she reluctantly had to get used to the R.C. Renal. Her eating is not as good as I would like. I have tried the wet tuna renal and the canned chicken renal which she licks rather than eats! I find she has good and bad days for eating but the dry food seems to be preferable. Anyhow, I found Medical Animal some time ago and buy her food from them as their service is better than in the past and arrives very quickly. Just hope they don't increase their prices due to popularity!

  • Renal RF 23 Dry is perfect for my cat
My cat is 18 now and thoroughly enjoys this dried food...and it's good to know that it's helping his kidney function . Unfortunately, he won't eat the Royal Canin wet food, so we give him some Felix Senior food together with a bowl of the RF 23 Dry, which he thoroughly enjoys.

  • Does what it claims to do
Prompt delivery of the product for my cat who has hypertension and renal issues. This dry food combined with his medication has steadied his blood pressure to a level where his quality of life is good despite being blind.

  • Royal Canin Renal dry food
Vet recommended this food for my elderly cat and she has loved it in place of the wet food.
