Product details

The Purina Pro Plan veterinary diets feline DM diabetes management wet food pouch has everything most diabetic cats need to stay healthy, while keeping their blood sugar levels stable.
How it works
Because this food has been carefully blended with diabetic pets like yours in mind, it contains much lower carbohydrate levels than a normal recipe. This helps to regulate your cat's blood sugar levels, which carbohydrates can otherwise cause to rise rapidly after meals. High amounts of protein help their system to produce more insulin too, which can, in some cases, mean that they'll need to take less external insulin.

Diabetes can lead to an increased number of free radicals in their body. If left unchecked, these can lead to serious illnesses like cancer. The vitamin E in this food works as an antioxidant, helping to reduce free radical build-up.
Key benefits

  • special recipe for your diabetic cat
  • high in protein
  • low in carbohydrates
  • helps regulate blood sugar
  • encourages your pet's body to produce more insulin
  • vitamin E acts as antioxidant.

When to use it
Diabetes affects your cat much the same way it affects a human. Blood sugar levels need to be kept under control, as your pet is unable to produce enough insulin to do so naturally. Normally, extra insulin can be given to help them stay healthy, but diet plays an important factor too.
Carbohydrates increase blood sugar as they are absorbed by your pet's body, so a diet low in carbohydrates is generally recommended for diabetic pets.

Always consult your vet before changing your cat's diet however, especially when they are diabetic. Note that this recipe is not recommended for kittens, pregnant cats or cats that need a low protein diet due to problems such as kidney failure or some types of liver disease.
