ACP® is a useful premedicant. It has a tranquilising and anxiolytic effect, even at low doses, thus producing a calmer patient. At higher doses, it produces sedation. ACP® also potentiates anaesthetic agents, thus reducing the required dose of a suitable induction agent, generally by about one third.
