Traditional medications to treat feline asthma include systemic delivery (pill or syrup) of potent cortiscosteroids which may cause significant side-effects (such as pancreatitis, insulin resistance (diabetes), polyuria, cystitis, inappropriate urination and  changes in behaviour) to your cat.   
 
Feline asthma is similar to the human form of asthma, responding well to the pharmacological agents used with humans, delivered by metered dose inhalers.
